Who’s Your Teacher?
Sinéad Dunphy has been involved in the arts for over twenty years as a performer in theatre and contemporary dance as well as being a producer, director and event organiser of many prestigious arts Festivals and events. Currently the Festival Manager of the Cork International Choral Festival, she has seen the Festival double in size while also increasing its international profile. Sinéad holds directorships on both the Cork Business Association and the Cork Arts Support Team, working towards the improvement of Cork’s economic infrastructure through business interests and workplace training respectively. Since attending University College Cork for the Bachelor of Drama and Theatre Studies Degree in 2002, she has produced, directed and performed in countless shows, festivals and events. Sinéad also holds qualifications with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in both Acting and Public Speaking. Sinéad also has several years of teaching experience having taught in a number of schools in Cork City and County, stage schools such as Montfort College of Performing Arts, the Gaiety School of Acting and Wolfe Stage School as well as working in Edinburgh for the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a coordinator of an Edinburgh City Council youth project – Go4It. Her commitment to both the arts and tourism sectors has been apparent and acknowledged by several national and local bodies through various awards and invitations to speak on an international level as a guest speaker and academic.
Sinéad believes that acting skills are not just for those seeking out the lime light but in fact, it is for everyone – as the confidence and personal development gained from these courses has seen many of her students excel in their personal lives and careers while also enjoying the opportunity to work on various scripts and present works in various arts venues throughout Cork city.

What’s it all about – Adult Acting Classes
If you’re thinking of acting for fun or to rekindle a life-long passion or youthful dream, this adult theatre course is for you. This class will introduce you to techniques that will help you gain confidence and feel more comfortable in front of an audience, including breathing, relaxation, concentration and more.
Absolute Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Classes are available.
In our acting classes, you will work both on improvisation and from text, explore your stage presence, and begin to master your voice and movements. By the end of the course, you will have learned many of the basic skills that actors use on a daily basis in theatre, film and television.
We keep group sizes small in order for the facilitator to give you a lot of individual feedback and to encourage an intimate, friendly and fun atmosphere in which you can learn and grow.
No experience is necessary but a willingness to participate and enjoy yourself is a MUST!
Course content includes: voice, stagecraft and presentation, improvisation, movement, monologues, auditions, etc.
If you’re seeking a career in the limelight, auditions are a major part of the industry for entry into third level training or indeed for professional shows. Individual private sessions are available to ensure you are fully prepped for your audition.
This course will offer a range of private one on one classes giving an invaluable grounding in vital skills required for auditions and ongoing training. On completing the course participants will be armed for auditions with a polished classical and contemporary speech, as well as tips and techniques to remain relaxed and confident in audition situations.
General audition presentation, delivery, attitude and focus will be covered and the course will end with a mock audition session for drama school to practice the skills learned during the course. Experience in acting whilst not a necessity would be beneficial.
