Writing For Stage Adult Classes

In this course you will learn how writing for theatre differs from other genres and how you can utilise those difference and have fun with them.

We will look at building characters, telling a story through your characters speech, how to create dramatic situations and scenes that will work on stage.

Even if you have never written anything before in your life, you can join in as we will also learn ways to tap into your creativity and learn basic writing skills.

We will be doing written exercises during the class and there will be some home work each week.

Since theatre scripts are meant to be spoken out loud, we will be reading our own work and each others scenes. Hearing your texts back from others is a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t.

At the end of the term, you will have the tools to get going and to rewrite your scenes to bring them to fruition.

The course consists of 10 weeks in term 1 and 12 weeks in term 2, with each class being 1.5 hours each.
